Default Iceland - the least multicultural country in the rich world.
Iceland - the least multicultural and most culturally conservative place

Apart from Iceland being one of the world's most feminist countries (along with rest of Northen Europe) and Icelandic fathers having more mama roles than the rest of the world's fathers (Iceland has gender-neutral parental leave), Iceland is one of the most homogenous countries in the whole Western World.

Demographics, people of foreign background in Iceland.

Iceland 291,942 93.2%
Poland 8,488 2.71%
Lithuania 1,332 0.43%
Germany 984 0.31%
Denmark 966 0.31%
Portugal 890 0.28%
Philippines 743 0.24%
Ex-Yugoslavia 651 0.21%
USA 598 0.19%
Thailand 545 0.17%
Latvia 431 0.14%
United Kingdom 420 0.13%
Sweden 407 0.13%
China (PRC) 379 0.12%
Ex-Czechoslovakia 365 0.12%
Norway 301 0.10%
others 3,934 1.26%
Total 313,376 100%
Total (excluding Icelanders) 21,434 6.8%

As you can see, they have a lot of immigrants (6,8 %) BUT most of them (apart from some Asians) are from racially and culturally similar nations.

Unlike countries like Finland, there isn't any significant muslim or african population.
Practically all of Icelands foreigners are working, the Thais and Phillippinos are brought there for labour (apart from some mail order brides i guess).

Iceland does not have a foreign population which lives on state-paid welfare, unlike rest of Northern Europe, and Europe as a whole.

Only 1 % of Iceland's population belongs to a non-christian movement, and the largest are the Asatru/neo-pagan organization followed by Bahai (Indo-Aryan mixed religion).

Source: wikipedia

I've also heard that Iceland is the only country in Europe that doesn't have a mosque.*
Finland on the other hand builds new mosques.

Icelandic language is well-known for being extremly conservative, and not often take in foreign words. This is because the icelandic grammar makes it hard to build conjugates of foreign words, but also because Icelanders prefer to have as much icelandic words as possible.

Some examples
library = bókasafn (collection of books)
office = skrifstofa (writing cabinet)
theater = leikhús (play-house)
passport = vegabréf (road letter)
computer = tölva (speech + völva = a female prophet in Asatru, thus a computer is a shaman who talks)
telephone = sÃ*mi (trÃ¥d)
barometer = loftvog (luftvåg)
margarin = smjörlÃ*ki (nÃ¥got smörliknande)

The world is becoming more multi-cultural, but not Iceland as much.

You seem to write this with the idea that people want to move to iceland to begin with. I have never met anyone who wanted to seriously go to, let alone, relocate to Iceland. For what?

Hell Icelandic people leave, they have a negative immigration rate actually...

Well they are already about 40% British Isles and 60% Norse, so they are not really that homogenous to begin with.

Iceland has only been a country for a few decades. We were one for nearly 800 years. We're now an autonomous region. We shall be a state again in due time. Until then, we shall continue to pay zero to Italy in taxes.

Who would want to live on an isolated island anyway?

Iceland is a small country - sure, the actual area is big, but the liveable areas aren't. Comparable to Andorra - how many third world immigrants do you think live here?

Does immigration just count if the immigrants are either Muslim or African or what do you mean?

I've also heard that Iceland is the only country in Europe that doesn't have a mosque.*
Finland on the other hand builds new mosques. That goes without saying, because you just said that there's hardly any Muslims, so it would be strange if there was a Mosque and no Muslims, don't you think?

Immigrants in Iceland usually are from Poland and other Scandinavian nations, while in Sicily they are from Africa. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iceland#Demographics

False.

Eastern Europeans make up the bulk of our immigrants, then Maghreb Africans.

Ofcourse, but since I did not find a written source about it, I was careful to simply say it is so.

Its good to back up such things with texts ya know.

Muslims probably don't have a formal mosque, they just rent a hall to pray or something...they do this in Switzerland in many places where there is no Mosque.

Aren't Japan and South Korea rich countries as well? I think they also have very small percentage of immigrants.

Ofcourse, I was going to say Europe first, but changed the word.

You still know what I mean.

I think South Korea actually has a lot of foreign residence, but very few are citizens..I know they have more foreign residence than Japan.

Andorrans make up only 36.65% of the population (actually the percentage of ethnic Andorrans must be considerably lower; just have a look at the numbers per age). Spanish, 38.27; French, 6.52; Portuguese, 11.49; Other, 7.06.

Source: http://www.treball.ad/estadistiques.pdf (page 19, in Catalan, from the Ministry of Work)

(page 21) Moroccans, 0.68; Filipino, 0.45; Swedes, 0.07.

Yes, I know. I looked it up. I'm not talking about Western immigrants. Though Andorra is even smaller than Iceland, I just think it's a more realistic comparison with regard to "Third World" Immigrants, as I said.
