Default did anyone notice...
that the UFL had their draft. (yea i know this is the NFL general discussion)

i recognize a lot of names, I wonder what it'll be like trying to sign some of these guys after they've had a taste of NFL money

The UFL's approach, rules and style of play will look and feel substantially similar to the NFL and will cater to those markets currently underserved by professional football. The UFL will assemble the best talent on the field, on the sidelines and in the league and team offices to ensure a credible, high-quality product that is accessible and affordable for fans.

Uh - don't New York and San Francisco have professional football teams?
I do not get this league at all?

I see Denny's trying to continue the good ole boys network in San Fran.

Drafted Obafemi Ayanbadejo and Larry Fitzgerald's brother. I'm betting even money that Richard Solomon is on his coaching staff.

Maybe it will bring back nostalgia for the USFL. I have a football signed by all the Philadelphia Stars Championship Team. Could increase the value?

That's just it. We don't have an NFL team.

...and no UFL team either.

(I was being sarcastic in my previous post, Shwam)

I just hope he doesn't give away a lead to another team that can't score on offense....

I thought about this too at first but I think this is about TV Markets. Exposure in big cities, if you can get it, you take.

And I think the big cities are acting as expansions out to the smaller ones. San Fran will play in Sacramento with plans to get a franchise there. New York will do the same in Hartford. Las Vegas will do the same in LA (Yeah Straw I think that is ass backwards too).

I will check out this league. I know when Orlando had teams (USFL and WFL) it was fun to go out to a game (even if you were 1 of 15000 in a 75000 seat stadium).

Yeah, I can't say I'm all that excited about this new league for some of the reasons stated above.

However, I think it's more feasible a plan than the old XFL good ole Vince MacMahon started.

Hopefully it will give some guys an opportunity to continue playing football and others an opportunity to perhaps get extra experience to get into the NFL.

We'll see.

I went through the same thing w/ the Phila Stars in the USFL . Saw many decent players who went on to the NFL including some schlub name Reggie White. ^_^

I nominate jcarm22 as the Moderater of the soon to be UFL Forum, since his beloved AFL is in "hiatus".

The AFL will play this season.

Whether or not I get season tickets is another story, since I'll be almost an hour and a half from the city after we move to our new place.

I hope his league does help the NFL. Just dont see how they can expect anything but to be squashed if there is any kind of success in the deprived markets.

God knows the NFL does not want to lose the rabid Bucs fan base in Orlando
