The basics:
Franchise: Compensation (2 1st round picks) and Salary of Top 5 at the position Transition: No Compensation and Salary of Top 10 at the position Both include the option of the incumbent team having first right of refusal when the player gets an offer from a new team. If the team declines to match the offer and the player is Franchised the new team must compensate the incumbent team with 2 1st round draft picks. But if the player is Transitioned then the new team does not have to compensate the incumbent team. |
