Air Vice Mshl T Nagaraj took over the duties of Principle Medical Officer (PMO) of HQ Maintenance Command at Nagpur today.
As the PMO of Maintenance Command, AVM Nagaraj would be responsible for formulating and implementing the health related policies and procedure for ensuring physically fit and mentally alert technical force of the Command. The spread of the Maintenance Command elements from Leh to Andamans and from deserts of Rajastan to the forest of North East States makes this task particularly challenging. As PMO AVM Nagaraj would also be the overall head of various hospitals and Medical Care Centres under the maintenance Command taking care of Air Warriors and the families health. AVM Nagaraj born at Vijayapur, Bangaluru graduated from Bangalore Medical College in Dec 1975 and subsequently joined the Army’s Medical Corps in Apr 1978. He has served in various field units in Army such as Medical Battalions, Artillary Unit Military Hospital and also NDA Khadakwasla. He has also worked in crucial medical appointments in the Navy such as Chief Medical Officer in Naval Dockyard and Senior Registrar at Indian Naval hospital Ship, (INHS) Ashwini at Mumbai. AVM Nagaraj has also been associated with research and publishing of vital studies in the field of HIV during his stint with the Navy. He was also instrumental in conducting health education drives in all the Indian Naval Stations. In the field of lifestyle related diseases, AVM Nagaraj has successfully implemented Annual Medical Examination programme for the Defence civilians at the Naval Dockyard Mumbai and assisted the staff in ensuring a healthy lifestyle. He has also authored a book titled “Turn around – A journey through Life Style diseases”. As a specialist in Preventive and Social Medicine (PSM) the Maintenance Command, IAF is expected to benefit immensely from the vast experience of AVM T Nagaraj, which spans over nearly three and half decades. |
