Dabolim airport expansion being obstructed by Navy : Goa Govt
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday complained about the alleged ‘possessiveness by the Navy’ and will complete expansion plans of the existing airport at Dabolim. Since Goa’s Liberation from the Portuguese colonial regime, takeover of Goa’s land has been an issue, which it claims that it was usurped by the Indian Navy as war booty. The expansion plans is dependent on the acquisition of the land which the Navy has apprehensions about.
Mention of Navy’s name on Form I and XIV did not mean ownership contents Goa Govt. An area of 2.52 acres taken over from the Navy forms the core issue. Goa is constructing another airport in Mopa, which the opposition says is slow and Land grabbers are trying to buy land in the region. 2037 acres of land have been acquired for the airport. |
