Anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare on Monday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying he would be forced to go on a fast if the Lokpal Bill was not passed in the coming Winter Session.
The letter, made public on Tuesday from his home village Ralegan Siddhi, has also been marked to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Union law minister Salman Kurshid. “You gave a written assurance that a strong Lokpal Bill will be passed, which was conveyed to us by Union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. Due to this I called off my fast after 12 days. If the bill is not passed in the Winter Session, I will have to resume the fast,” said Mr Hazare. “I will resume the agitation through a fast on the last day of the Winter Session while my team will tour various states,” he added. -dc chn |
