Not really, they're actually computer pranks that are intented to "scare" the user by first showing a image or game that first looks innocent, but eventually a weird image pop ups accompanied with a loud scream. Usually the creator would say, "LOOK CLOSER!!!" or "listen carefully", which would make you try to concentrate on the image or sound clip much more than usual.
