Default the end of the day
what do you look forward to at the begining of the day? what events or daily things make you smile and go "yeah, I'm looking forward to that"?

Maybe its just a slump in my life right now, this whole quarter life crisis issue, about what I want to do, what I want to achieve in life, how will I support my parents in old age..phase..
but going to class, going to work, studying, just felt like motions you go through. i look forward to sleep, but not really living life.

Then tonight, I was sitting in insane traffice trying to get over the bridge, which could have taken me 15 minutes, but ended up being 40 minutes, and I was chipper. i was smiling and bouncing to the music and singing along. I was looking forward to go to kendo class. even though I'm going to be in the newbie corner and completely ackward I was happy I was going to class.

its kind of a nice refuge, a place where I'm expected to suck at something, where its okay to move really slow...I can get taken apart completely from the begining, and thats a good feeling, because you feel new when you get put back together again.
I don't belong there yet, just cuz i think they are waiting out the "never coming back" period on me, but i'm glad to be there.

I know how you feel.... It's so easy to get caught in the rat race and not put aside time for yourself to do what YOU want to do. Kendo is great as you do it for yourself and it takes you away from the normal everyday traffic jam.

Keep going with the training as it only gets better...

Working out before work.

Maybe its just a slump in my life right now, this whole quarter life crisis issue, about what I want to do, what I want to achieve in life, how will I support my parents in old age..phase..

Quarter life phase?
You worry to much.
Wait until you are married and have children.
That's when the "worrying" truly begins.
For now, have fun while you can!

What I look forward to in the middle of the day:
Lunchtime.

At the end of the day:
Seeing the family, eating a home cooked meal, spending time with the fam, and of course, study and Kendo among a few.

On the weekends however,
IT'S PARTEH TIMEH!!
WHOO-HOO!

Overall, I think it is important to constantly create things in which to look forward to, even if it's as mundane as ordering something on-line, or a visit to the library or Gardening. I always try to make some event each day to get me motivated. Above all, learn to laugh. A lot. It helps.

as cliche as it may sound, the key is having something in your life that you are passionate about.

My poor friends have had to suffer through me yammering non-stop about kendo ever since I've started, however, I also get told that I smile much more and am generally just seem happier now.

Obviously kendo isn't going to do it for everyone, but I think it IS important to have something in your life that strips all the junk away while you are doing it.

way i see it, it's always beer in the end.. right before passing out. beer after training.. beer after sex.. beer after.. beer. then passing out/sleeping/more beer.

for me, kendo is the highlight of my week. Otherwise, I look forward to getting home, sitting on my balcony with my feet up watching the swans and pelicans run around, seeing the sun go down with a beer. Watching tv while doing shinai maintenance is another favourite.

Playing with the kids and the wife on weekends is what I look forward to every day....

You know this is actually sort of like kendo. You look forward to it while at the same time you almost dread what could happen.

Sort of like when I took the family to see Lake Como. Beautiful views and the kids had fun...playing with pikachoo cards with my friend's son while the wives talked about the landscape and my friend and I sat there drinking a bottle of very nice Brunello di Montalcino. The wives drove on the way back.... It was fun but I was completely rocked at the end.... This could be my description of Kendo sometimes.

If I sit out on the balcony here in Tokyo all I get is car fumes and little direct sun light. The beer helps though.

HEY! Youre in the land of kendo, sake, strange TV shows and awesome shopping! Very true... All indoor activities. The kendo is great, sake is endless as are the strange TV shows and the shopping is like a mini battlefield.

Outside of Tokyo is fine. The mountains are a great place to relax and drink more beer then sake.
