I'm on Feisty Fawn right now. What distro do you guys run on?

Used to use mandriva 2007. I'm back on the dark side of the force since I changed my graphic cards: the linux drivers are crap, Windows is back.http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...milies/cry.gif

Hey--dont listen to them.
Im on a Mac--and always have been. Since MAC OSX, Ive never had a lockup, crash, virus or Security breach. MACS are wonderful. When Leopard is released MAC will be the very first platform to run two operating systems, MAC/Linux or MAC/Vista--at the same time with LIVE SWITCHING and LIVE FILE TRANSFER between programs. Quadcore Intel Chips ROCK! For YouTube first, throw out some frames if you can, stepping down to 24fps vs. 29.97 can save a lot of data, even go down to 15fps if you can without severe loss. Second use MPEG-4 Codec. --you can set your "data rate" to hit 100mbs exactly. Take 100MB, divide by the number of seconds of duration and you get your resulting datarate. Third -- drop down your audio sample rates. You don't need CD quality audio (44.1 16bit/stereo)-- you can probably drop that WAY down to 22.1, 8bit Mono and still end up with a good result. The more you smash the audio, the more room you allocate for the video quality. Export directly out of FCP (the best non-linear editor on the planet) and send it directly to Compressor....set up a series of presets and click the render button. Remember--if it smashes too much, and you have done all the above-- segment the video into multiple clips...then recompress |
Anyone edit movies on a Mac?
