Yes, it's horribly sad but true, the Philosopher King of Comedy has died of heart failure at age 71. It really hurt for me to hear this, because just a week ago I was wondering how old Carlin must be now and how much longer he was likely to be around.
A long legacy of great material and no apologies. Among my favourite comedians, I'd have to say his only peer was (is) Billy Connolly. People love to bang on about how great Lenny Bruce was, but honestly, Mr. Bruce never made me bust a gut like Carlin. The one consoling note comes from the fact that, for once in its miserable life, Yahoo News actually printed the name of a deceased celebrity in a headline rather than saying something obnoxiously salacious like "Famous Comedian Dies (Find out Who!)" |

Upon hearing the news this morning, I could only come up with one word to describe how I felt. FU**. I felt it was the only appropriate word to describe my feelings, as it was one of his favorite.
I saw him in concert once, and after doing about 45 min. he was being heckled by a guy in the front row, the guy would not shut up, Carlin said Fu** you and walked off stage. That was the way he was. The world has said goodbye to a comic genius that entertained all of us from the pot smoking hippies to the little kids that new him as a train conductor. Heaven has welcomed on funny ass angel. |
