Default This Forum had deteriorated
I do not visit this forum so much anymore. I find the new layout very poor and its impossible to get into old threads unless you have a key word.
Its a pity as it used to be very good. What do others think about it?. I know this layout has been in action for over 6 months and its really frustrating that if you are not on it almost every day you are unable to access important information that people may have posted a couple of weeks back.
The old format was much better. Change is not always better and this GA Plaza is living proof of that.

That's a shame Viv & Rob.

I was getting ready to agree with you when I saw the title as I thought you were going to comment on the recent spats however, I quite like this format but it did take abit of getting used to.

I guess the differrence between us is that I only used the old format for about a month before it changed to this so the transition was easy.

I do exactly as you if I want to know stuff though - search on a keyword.

Hang in there.

I am getting used to the new layout and particularly like the fact that once subscribed to a thread one automatically gets the followup messages to ones email inbox however I do agree that unless one visits daily it is easy to miss the threads from the previous days, unless there has been little activity. To be perfectly honest, on balance, I did prefer the old format. However, let us not forget that Hans Hamers has done a brilliant job setting up this site and its predecessor and I am personally very grateful to him. I have learnt so much from the members and have hopefully, in turn, been able to offer help and support to others. If Hans thinks this format is better then so be it - I can live with the niggles.

I now like the new format and like CB2011 use the new posts link and find it very useful apart when someone uses multiple posts with the same information. One post is enough when using the new posts link as you get to see them all when you log in.

I didn't like the new format at first, but now I'm more used to it I quite like it.
As already said, if you look at "New Posts" once you're logged in, it gives all those since your last visit.
If you then look at the blue > sign next to each topic it will take you to the last post in that section. I do this and if I'm interested I then scroll upwards to see the other messages.
Last time I came back from GA there were 122 postings !!! so I spent a good while looking through.
Hans does a great job with the forum, many thanks from us.

As a member of the old forum.. not the last one, but the one before that.. (that's how old I am!!) I liked the old one better. But time moves on. I am getting to know this one.. just.. and no doubt, in time, I will get to know the next one.. (it will happen). But no matter what the design, or the style, or the colour.. this board is invaluable. It kept my sanity when I bought in Gran Alacant.. changes there may be..styles there may be, but the content stays the same, information, help and experience.... it is priceless!!

Hans.. ignore us, those that hark to the past.... we all hark back to the "good times" when there were only 60 members.. and the forum ran quick and response was fast.. but now we have a forum that runs into the thousands... we have to move on and up.. keep up the good work Hans ... and thanks for my sanity.. (perhaps).

okay, i had to re-create my login - undoubtedly user error on my part, but I can't now remember any significant differences between the old and the new. Perhaps faster?

Like Kerstin, & I suspect a fair few others, Had real problems with the actual change-over. Probably cos I'm a dinosaur & technology leaves me cold. As everyone says, it is quicker & I recollect a fair few occasions when you couldn't access the site if there were too many people on it before.
