I'm new to the whole cable scene and was wondering if anyone can help me out. I'm looking to get cable for my house and have up to 5 tvs connected to it. I dont want to have to purchase or rent a reciever yet it seems every company i look at tells me i have to (bs right?).
Any recommendations of cable providers in ontario and can i do without those recievers? |

In NS, basic cable is just that, a cable. Can split it and plug it into as many devices as you want (the company puts a limit usually, but they cant really tell). Digital cable will require you to purchase or rent a receiver unit (for each TV, most likely).
If you want HD, you choices are digital cable or satellite (here in NS anyway, I'm sure its the same players in Ontario though). If you just want regular cable, you shouldn't need a box. |

I'm in barrie. It seems rogers is the way to go. Last year i was renting a house that had 5 rooms and cable in each. Was able to get discovery, spike, history, oln etc without a reciever. To get that it seems i need to go with the rogers VIP package. https://www.rogers.com/web/link/ptvB...eProductId=VIP thats just too expensive though. I might be going into rogers store today so i'll ask them about getting basic with a few extra channels. And don't worry i won't be signing anything today.
