Default I really don't need more drama in my life . . . .
Well, it's understandable that they'd get so worried and take those actions given the situation.

But it sounds like you really should be staying with someone.

I keep mine in my briefcase in case of emergencies. Someone at work needing something doesn't qualify.

I don't think I need to be living with someone to keep an eye on me Asher. The fact that I tried taking some other course of action when I had thoughts of suicide, rather than trying to kill myself may be a sign that I really don't want to kill myself.

Barnabas, I'm unemployed right now since my job as a research associate with Papers of Abraham Lincoln ended at end of June. I don't like the idea of teaching brats; what I am interested in doing, is teaching history at a community college.

But seeing as how unrealistic that is, I am trying to find financing so I can go back to school and pursue a MA in Library Science. But I don't know if that will work out yet. And no, I don't own my own home; I rent an apartment.

On another note, the police officer has not come yet. It's been about an hour or more since my mom had called with that request, so it seems like no one will be coming to my apartment after all.

A turned off cell phone is an expensive ugly paperweight.
I use severed human heads for paper weights.

But it helps fight loneliness, which drives depressive thoughts.

Are you flamboyant gay? Pupils would immediately notice you are gay?

An unstable work situation can't be remedied by suicide. It's a little hard to get a job if you're just going to be laying around.
Who's going to even interview, much less hire, someone like that?

Why is teaching history at a CC unrealistic?
There are far too many History geeks out there with MAs and PhDs who are applying for limited community college teaching positions.

I've been reading a book called, "Catholic and Christian" and that night that I had suicide thoughts, I had read a chapter on the after life in that book earlier that day.

I just began thinking how I would be at peace with myself and never having any problems like I have now. But then again, suicide is supposedly a sin . . . .

On another note, the police officer never came over. I found out from my mom, that the officer called her back to let her know he was on his way. But she told him that she was able to reach me, and talk with me.

Anyone who calls a suicide hotline hoping they can be useful in any way is really just not smart. What you have is a bad case of needing to grow a pair (as evidenced by your constant whining here and to volunteer telephone operators). I've seen people in the Army with three limbs blown off with more balls than you have.
This is actually not funny at all, wiglaf. Some trolls go to far. **** off. Don't joke around about suicide. Just don't. Period.

Part of the problem is people overlook sacking up as a possible solution. Instead they look to the police, suicide hotlines, and Apolyton, all of which simply tell them that they aren't the problem, and that the big bad world has been mean to them. Solving absolutely nothing in the process

You want to see people who need counselors, go to Walter Reed and talk to the people who are paralyzed. They will never be able to have sex or hold a job or feed themselves, and yet they do 1/10th of the *****ing on average than I have seen in this thread because this guy's job faxing Abe Lincoln's speeches to himself expired.

I disagree. Taking stock and knowing yourself is very important. One can't just amble through life thinking that decisions that are made are meaningless. Every decision, every fork in the road matters.

Anyone notice how appealing the freeze frame on that video I posted about **** blocking is? But then the whole video is nothing but 3 black guys and an asian guy and that chick has only the most fleeting appearance.

I guess that's just good advertising.

I realize Fun won't read this but on the off chance he does, Having lived through depression and a spouse that had serious spells of depression, sacking up and manning up sounds all fine and well but is not a realistic suggestion. Fun needs to immerse himself in activities that preoccupy him and allow him to focus on tasks/items or other things that allow him to weather the storms of depression until such time as he can be reliably in a better state of mind. Having others nearby to keep him otherwise occupied to prevent himself from self destructive and excessive self examination is a viable approach (although it is extremely hard on the persons being relied upon to keep the person occupied. Being around/supportive of a depressive is not an easy feat. )

Time and the resulting perspective are the only true cures. The key is to make sure that one can survive long enough to develop that experience and perspective.
