I would start looking for teh roots of the music you listen to, or artists that continue the original flavor.

Led Zep has some strong blues roots, and so does the Rolling Stones (Exile on Main Street, the Stones, is almost pure Blues, unless I am mixing titles).

Other things you may want to try are:

Groove:
Zero 7
St Germain
Jamiriquai
Greyboy (freestylin')
Groove Collective
Trippin' (the Groove Merchant Collection)

You can go Funk with:
Sly and the Family Stone
Parliment

Classic R+B with more Aretha, James Brown, Al Green, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding and the like.

Blues withe Sonny Rollins, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Lee Hooker, or even more "fun" bands like Blues Traveler, Reverend Horton Heat, and some others. A classic overdriven steel guitar sound can be had from The Black Keys as well.

Rock? Some new stuff has caught my attension, but you need to sample.

Muse
Silverchair
The Doves
Kaiser Chiefs
Mutemath
Nada Surf

I also recommend the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Saw them at the Bowry live, very good group in person, a little slower on their albums!!

And some other classics like Supergrass can have you screaming along to a punk flavor (akin to the Clash at times, but whinier like Smashing Pumpkins with a HEAVY english accent!)

I got more to choose from, but what may help is being more specific about what you are in the mood for now, and what "flavors" you want to add to your musical pantry.

Considering the amount of Beck you hi-lited, I'm shocked you don't have Mutations. A bit more upbeat than Sea Change - but definitely the prototype for that album.

I'm more into rock/alternative/indie than R&B/Hip Hop, but based off your highlighted albums, we seem to have similar tastes there. Some other stuff you might like, in no particular order:
-Jamiriquai - seconded
-Kings of Leon - "Only by the Night" - different sound than the other album you own, IMHO
-Vampire Weekend - World beat and Paul Simon re-interpreted by smarmy Columbia grads. Damn Catchy.
-MGMT - kind of a 70's retro rock sound. If you like Phoenix, I think you'll like them.
-The Postal Service - 80's new wave meets modern Electronica.
-Death Cab for Cutie - any album after 2003, if you like The Postal Service (same singer)
-The Killers - the lead singer may be an egotist, but he delivers. You seem to like modern bands with a retro-80's sound - then this band is up your alley. If you like The Killers, then you'll probably like
-Kaiser Chiefs - I'm pretty sure every song they write is purposely ripping off its sound from a different band from the 80's each time. I still like them.

Some other bands, whose new singles I've liked, but have yet to listen to a complete album:
-Silversun Pickups - heavy guitars, kind of Smashing Pumpkins-esk.
-Muse - English Alt/Rock
-Bell X 1 - Irish alt/rock
-Metric - Canadian indie band with an 80's new wave sound

No you probably had it right. They are both bands worth trying out. The latest Silverchair album - Young Modern - from the few singles I have heard - seems pretty good.

Interestingly Silverchair started off as a band of Australian 14-15 year olds making grunge-style rock. The music labels picked up the band to market them as some sort of grunge era boy band. Everyone in the US forgot them in a few years (except, as perhaps as some sort of joke).

To my surprise (and probably the music labels), they are in fact a real band, and capable of making some very good music - more so as they are pushing 30 now. Apparently they have put out a number of albums in Australia - Young Modern being the first one to get real airplay in the US for a decade.
