Blaut
Aha, thx (this is actually how we pronounce "au" in German anyway)

I thought you'd 'anglify' everything. Like the (German) guy appearing sometimes on CNN International. He always sounds like an American, even when talking German stuff like city names. Maybe they told him to sound more 'international' http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif

Jon Stewart said he's a Nazi!

We do Anglicize quite a bit. Köln somehow becomes Cologne. My last name is Schwartz with a T. But that doesn't mean we're stupefied by a diphthong. Like Lori said, just about any literate American will pronounce "Blaut" with the same vowel sound as "plow."
