Default Jeb for President!
Jeb was a successful governor of Florida. He would probably make a good president.

But I've had my fill of Bushes, at least for a while.

I would not say Jeb was successful. He drove the state into debt.
As have many Governors. It wasn't exactly the best of economic times .

I think Jeb would have been a great President, but unfortunately George beat him to the big house. He'll never be Prez now (he'd be only the 2nd Catholic to be President), but he probably will win the Senate seat in 2010.

He did it under Clinton, just like his brother did to Texas.

He'd be going up against Martinez in the primary, and while he could win it, it would be not well looked upon. He's best waiting 'till 2012 and trying to take Nelson's seat when he retires. 2010 will most likely be Martinez versus Wasserman Schultz.

What'd ya know, 2001-2007 was under Clinton (Governor Bush was the Gov of Florida from 1999-2007.
It didn't take him the full 8 years. He managed it in one.

Uh... che... Martinez is retiring. Are you that far behind on Florida politics? Apparently. Retiring after one term? That young? Odd. Wonder what's coming.

If Jeb had wanted to be President, he's have bumped Chaney off the ticket four years ago. That way, in 2008 he could have run for President as the sitting VP.

For a supposedly democratic nation we seem to have a knack for creating political dynasties. No more Clintons, Kennedys, or Bushes!
I wouldn't say that. In American history, only twice has a son of a president become president himself, and from John Quincy Addams to George W Bush it was an about 150 long space. Other than those pairs, you had a grandson of a president sworn in, but that was again in the 1800s.

Dan: agree with your first comment. On the later one, you need to use scare qoutes on "coronary".

All: Why doesn't HW take a crack at it. He's still got eligibility. I remember people talking that way about Nixon until he died...

Or Adamses. You forgot Adamses.
And Roosevelts, of course.
Oh, and Harrisons.

The sitting President appointing his own brother would almost certainly fall back on him.

Hell, if we're talking eligibility, the Constitution doesn't actually disqualify Nixon from running again now.
Now that would truly be the biggest comeback since Lazarus.

There are many many people who are as capable as Hillary or Bill at being President. Why should the wife of a former president become president then?

We aren't India...
