Default Slipknot blamed for murder...
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008...school.killing

Ok this is pissing me off...yet ANOTHER murder happens and fingers get pointed at music, video games, books ect...

Why cant people be crazy? Why does it have to be in this case Slipknots fault because the kid was wearing a clown mask which they dont even have 100% proof that it is indeed a "Slipknot clown mask"...They dont mention in any news article that the kid even listened to Slipknot or was a fan.

I remember back when I was in middle and high school Marilyn Manson was taking the heavy metal world by storm when that whole columbine shooting went down in Colorado and they were doing the same thing to him. He hasnt really been in the spot light as of late so the they point the finger at the next band in line.

When will society realize that its not music or games that is doing this? It either has to do with up brining of the kid or mental illness...Can music and games be influential? Sure...but if your mentally off or cant handle things like that then where the hell are your parents making sure that you arnt listening to those bands and not playing those games?

Chris Rock said it best: "Go ahead blame it on music...BUT what was HITLER listening to? What was in his cd case?"

Bottom line if someone kills in the name of music or games there is something seriously wrong with them to begin with and it didnt start with the music or games...no...they were used as an "excuse" for reasoning and plea bargins...

Parents don't want to blame themselves or their children so they resort to other things to blame.

I love slipknot, new album is great,

I agree with you 100%! No one wants to blame themselves and say "hey I screwed up"...so they point the finger at a band that can capture the limelight instead.

The new album is amazing. I wont say its my fav album- believe it or not the live 9.0 album is still my fav. On the new album I really love the song Gematria, the lyrics speak the truth about America and our government and it really hits home. Also snuff as well as the new vermillion remix are both great pieces.

Maggot for life!

Perhaps I made a mistake in doing my job (parenting). Let's see here. Ah hah! It was *insert random inanimate object here*!!!! That's the culprit!

Like when people at work blame their PC when in reality the issue is that they're stupid.

Yea, well it was only a matter of time before Cory let his SS side hit SK. Luckily I love both bands.

Judas Priest went through the same dumb crap back in the 80s. And won. The case will
either go nowhere or get extinguished by a jury. If anyone should be tried its the parents
for neglecting their kid while he turned into a monster. Killers are a product of their up-bringing, not music.
Why isn't Slipknot out killing people when they made up the stuff. Its just stupid. The case, not the band.

By the way Hitler liked Richard Wagner and Ludwig van Beethoven. Are we gonna blame "Ride of the Valkyries" now ?
Or "1812 Overture" ? For who Hitler was ?

While we are at it lets ban The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. Since that is what made Chapman kill John Lennon,

He felt the air rise up in him, then he pushed his fingers into her eyes.

That is definitely Slipknot's fault.

The funny thing about these cases of finger pointing is that it will help boost sales of the media under scrutiny.

Slipknot should be ashamed of themselves. It's unbelievable how they promote murder and get away with it. I'm glad I live in Australia so I can get this album banned.

These things always crack me up.... and yes it will just have the effect of making more people buy the new album. The funny thing is back in my teenage years my mom thought all this music was bad for me and now she usually has a bigger metal cd collection than I do.

Wagner, fool.
And even as of today, his music is banned in Israeli concert halls.

"He came here camouflaged as the guy from Slipknot," Because being dressed in orange over-all's and wearing a mutilated clown mask just lets you blend right in.

I have thought more about it. I remember being young. Listening to Slayer full blast hollering arghhh! And biting holes in beer cans instead of opening the top. Hmmm?
The album was "Reigning Blood" more specifically it was about the Holocaust. The title track is "Angel of Death" A ripping song about a Nazi concentration camp and the horrors that took place in them. Not really pro Nazi but not anti either. Just about it.
It definitely raised my aggression level. But was it the beer and pot or the music, or all of the above. Slayer don't exactly sing about a pony ride through the misty meadows either but I never wanted to kill anybody. My upbringing wasn't great by any means but I wasn't abused really. But what if I was abused ? The more I think about it the music may have contributed to the aggressive state of mind in this murder but why did the guy listen to such violent music? What did the person ever do to him? Was he on anything ? I am sure there is many factors. I still wouldn't blame Slipknot and hold them fully accountable for this murder. Slipknot has many fans and I am sure many fans do not even care about what they are saying kind of like I didn't care about what Slayer said. I know some kids who like slipknot and their good kids. Smart, loving and far from murders.

Well that figures...finally an album comes out that I've been looking forward to, and Rhapsody still doesn't have it. What exactly am I paying for? They always have crappy albums out early, but then anything good takes forever for them.
If the new album is like the newest singles off it, I'll probably love it.
