Should I spend £670 on this PC?
 

or, would my old Enermax Liberty 500W (~31A out on the 12v lines, 30A on 5V) power that PC? I doubt it because of the 260, but I'm not sure with powersupplies...it would save me £80

why not 4870 which seems to be faster/cheaper instead?

You should be able to get a 4870 for about the same price as a 260. The 4870 is a better video card, and would go with that MB better since it's a Crossfire board... but the 260 has PhysiX support, which is kinda a non-factor as you say you want to use an 8800GT as a PhysiX card and looks like ATI cards will support PhysiX as well.)

Personally I'd go with the 4850 right now, since it's on a more reasonable price level and still a good card. Save the extra to get a second later to run in CF, or to upgrade again sooner.

I'd also probably go with an E8500 still. Only dual core, but at a faster clock, and for close to half the price. Also 65W instead of 95W... (Actually I'd probably go for a E7200 and just OC it as necessary.)

If you are planning on 2 video cards, the Liberty 500W may still cut it. It's a quality PSU and has dual 22 amp 12 volt rails. Should be enough for a 260 and 8800GT if you went that way. Certainly is enough for a single card for now.

Just a quick update; holy mother of god this processor is quick atm, and this is without a clean install of Vista (will do at the weekend after my mini holiday http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif ). The procssor is, according to some programs on the PC, between 4 and 5 degrees Celsius below room temperature...
