"Why? It could be amusing to argue something that you do not believe in-- Its not like its difficult to pick up enough of the jargon/belief system to plausibly argue the counter."

No way, can't be done.

The reason people leave Poly is individual in nature, is most probably the realization by some that attempting to help means squat to those who throw the switches.

Life does go on, unfortunatley, often, too late, people who sit in authority, wont allow a Paridigm Shift to take place, even when faced with the inevitable.

Death of a Salesman comes to mind

While honored to be in such august company, I have no freakin' idea what you are talkin' about-- I have no authority on Poly (or much of anywhere else actually-- ask my wife )

My Civ Chronicles ( + BtS) set is on my shelf, shining gloriously down at me. I just wish there was more time to play it.

If a post is sick I know who to call.

Oh, come to think of it, have you looked at any of AC's posts?

Well, atleast you are still breathing without the aid of a machine...BTW, as a post doc, are you teaching undergrads? Yup, it's almost all I do. I currently have 4 postgrad students; one Indian, one Chinese, one French and one Swiss, and I tutor first year thermodynamics/relativity...in FRENCH. I had little idea if I could explain special relativity in English before I started there, let alone French. Supervised a formal test all alone today - the boss and all other assistants are overseas are on holiday early for the long weekend, the bounders!

Oh, come to think of it, have you looked at any of AC's posts? Whose posts? I see that abbreviation and all I can think of is Alpha Centauri or alternating current. One of which I've dealt with too much recently, and the other of which I'm still waiting for Firaxis to announce with the number "2" after it.
