Default what would happen if central american countries...
Lets say that 50-100 yrs from now all central american countries were taken by the oceans?
Would those millions of ppl be left to die or would USA, brazil, and other countries open/amend their immigration laws to allow these refugees to live and work and even be citizens of such countries??

I know USA has very strict immigration laws due to all the illegals crossing the border, but would something like that make them open up the borders??

i doubt the entire country will flood to a level that submerge the mountains. they might end up like islands but to disappear you need fairly flat country.

but let just explored IF they do disappear, i think neighbouring country would have to assign certain border area as a refugee center. US might deny them entry and work in US cities of course, but i doubt US will just watch them go under and not let them in. my feeling is they would build their own cities like:

If Central America went under water, wouldn't every other coastal country in the world have their own problems to deal with?

thers no way central america can be flooded before the west and east coasts because if the ocean were to rise, the middle would be the last to go underwater. Unless you are talking about some major rain in the central US

...And I'm saying that the entire scenario is not worth thinking about. Even if it were to happen, which it won't, it wouldn't just happen over night and would affect more than just Central America. [ban]

Technically it's not a continent, just a region. Unless they've changed the textbooks in the last 10 years...

I didn't mean central America was a continent. I meant the central part of the American continents.

Which is technically the southern part of the North American continent. Again, unless they've changed the textbooks in the last 10 years...

Anyways, Mexico, like the US, already has a big enough immigration problem without climate change.

hahaha well thats just funny right there, alot of ppl im sure would think that central america is the mid west...

someone said there isnt enuff ice, I did see however that if enuff ice melted from both caps there would be enuff water to put central america under water and all other coastal cities, I saw it on one of the discovery channels. Of course this is within the next 200 yrs so they said.

the highest point of mexico is 5700M height. trust me when i say there isn't enough ice. >;-) you can flood most of the land, but to see central america disappear completely is an unlikely scenario.
