I don't have anything against poor farmers, but it seems to me that forgiving debts is only going to provide an incentive for people to stall with other debt payment hoping for a bailout there too. It's very anti-capitalism I'm affraid.

Didn't some guy win a Nobel prize for giving small loans (microloans) to farmers at high interest?
