It all happened so suddenly. I was just going for a short drive to get some snacks and as I was driving up my street (was dark out by now) a small black toy poodle jumped out from behind a parked car. I slammed on my breaks as hard as I could but hit him with my front wheel. The owner was right there talking to a neighbour and showing him the dog I guess. She was a very nice lady, very upset too. Guess she just got him in December and he was a bit of a problem dog. Lots of close calls with cars and I guess he was unlucky with me.
I feel so bad and she told me not too cause there was nothing I could do and it wasn't my fault. I know it really wasn't, but I cant help thinking about that poor puppy. We just got a new puppy a few weeks ago so I know what its like to have a new dog. I just kept thinking it didn't happen. She was so understanding though and its weird how two complete strangers can seemingly connect like that. We hugged for a good 10 minutes and I just kept telling her how sorry I was. I made her take my name and number and promised I would stop by on the weekend. All I can think about is that puppy . I am glad it was a instant death though. Well there it is, my first accident in 2.5 years of driving, and the car is fine, but I took a life. ![]() |
