Default Anyone up for a Potter bookoff?
A bookoff?

I've heard of ****off, pissoff, jackoff, but never a bookoff.

In any, or just the bookoff?
I know you just have to piss someone off, so that one isn't included for sure.

Could I write a review without reading the book? I could do that.

But I'll be on my honeymoon when Book 7 is released, so I shant be reading it until I return. What, do you plan to talk to your wife while you're recharging between bouts? Even so, you could discuss the book when you talk. Or listen to books on tape.

Somehow, I doubt I'll be finding a copy in St. Lucia on the day it is released; however, upon my return to Ohio, it should be waiting for me, courtesy of Amazon.

Got you beat. I already orderd my book as well as I have two back to back 16 hour shifts with almost nothing to do but watch my patient sleep.

I actually try to enjoy the books rather than read them as fast as possible... but that's just me .

The HP books are as much about the journey as they are the end . There are so many gems hidden in the pages of those books.

Ditto for me you have to read them carefully to fully appreciate them. Reading it in one day or sitting defeats the purpose of catching everything as well as the subtle nuances IMHO. If this is truly the last one I don't want to miss anything. Wait, wasn't that a song somewhere... *goes off to check Areosmith collection*

Read the first one and enjoyed it. However, my fantasy/sci-fi tastes run to more adult literature (John Shirley, Gene Wolfe, and especially Charles DeLint). To each their own.

Living in continental Europe in a small countryside town where relatively few people read the books in English (no excessively long queues expected at the bookstore), I'll probably be one of the first on the planet to get it though I was surprised to hear they were opening at 1:00 AM at all, if I'm not very much mistaken that's a first for the English version of the books.

Yeah, like I said I was quite surprised by that, there can't be that much demand for it.

Then again, in the larger and much more internationally-oriented neighbouring town the book stores aren't opening at 1:00 oddly enough, so my local store owners might've figured that they could get some traffic from there as well. And they probably just wanna be part of the global hype for a change, this is their last chance after all (which is the only reason I'm going too, I wouldn't have a problem waiting 'til morning -- I never felt a strong inclination to find a store that opened at night for any of the previous books).

Oh... I'm going to a midnight release party at my Barnes & Noble. I guess they are more common in the US.

Next Saturday, I'll go about 9:00 AM to the local Borders (huge stacks of DH all over the store and no crowds), pick out one that has no bent corners or a scuffed cover, cash in my $10 gift card, get my 40% discount, bring it home and try to figure out how to have three people in my family read it simultaneously...
