Ftp and Internet Explorer?

If it's a password-protected ftp account, I have seen in other cases that IE does not handle ftp://username:password@ftpsite.com/ type passwords properly. I'm not sure what causes that specifically, though.

I'm not 100% sure though, I'll try again when I get home

I'm using the ftp://username:password@ftpsite.com scheme with IE 6 and 7 and it works just fine. I've been using it before on IE IIRC, but now it just doesn't seem to work. It's been a while since I used ftp the last time, so I thought maybe something has changed

I'm using Bulletproof v 2.3.1

Oddly enough, Bulletproof suggests USING passive mode explicitly. But it's only when not using passive mode that it works for me... and this is apparently common with other FTP servers as well.

It doesn't matter if I'm using passive mode or not in IE7 (which is the only version I can test at the moment)

But you managed to see the directories in the folder?

Does BPFTP have port/pasv options?

BTW here's the screenshot of it working... this is from using the Test:me@adagio link, not the direct log in.

http://www.bpftpserver.com/products/...howto/firewall

Read that page, "3.0 Setting BulletProof FTP Server to operate in Passive-Mode (PASV-mode)"

If you enable PASV mode, your firewall needs to be set to behave with it, by the way. That could cause some problems as well.

No idea then, Adagio... but it worked fine for me w/IE 7, so it sounds like your IE is at fault to some extent.

I believe I've found the problem... well, part of the problem, you found the first part http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif

Under ftp settings I had to remove the check in "block server to server transfer". By unchecking that it's now possible for IE7 on this computer to access the ftp. Both use passive ftp and folder view is checked in the settings. Another one of my friends needed to uncheck the passive ftp box to get it working though

Thanks for the help http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/smile.gif
