If you get done speeding it'll be cheaper to leave the country than pay the fine... o.O

Wow, we need those kind of speeding penalties here in California. I think 20mph over the limit is excessive and the fine should be large, but I hope they don't go nutso and have huge penalties for smaller increases like 10mph or 12mph etc.

I think its awesome really. When im home on leave or something (like now for the 4th) i drive on the interstate/highway and im doing around 60-70 and the posted speed limit is 55mph. Im cruisin along and constantly see drivers fly by me doing 80+. I think its great that there are higher traffic ticket prices. Maybe people will start using there brains.

I was in a car doing 51MPH over the speed limit when it was pulled over. The ticket ended up being $320 for speeding; It wasn't even written for reckless driving. What they're doing in Virginia is a bit excessive.

Mental Note - never goto Virginia.

I might agree if they actually made the speed limits realistic. But this is excessive.

You should have been banned for that speed.

RTFL.

It says the fine is only for "serious traffic offenses", which I somehow doubt includes speeding.

The civil penalty for going 20 mph over the speed limit will be $1,050, plus $61 in court costs and a fine that is typically about $200. /smacks Ruzhyo

They should just take the car and auction it off instead. Should earn them more money.

I'm all for this. People just don't care anymore. With fines like that slapped in someones face, maybe they would pay more attention to the road and stop acting so stupid.

Now if only they would pass a "no cell phones while driving" here in Atlanta.

They should just make a national law, and ban women from driving

THE ROAD IS SAFE ONCE AND FOR ALL
