Which Father of the Church are you?

Silly, but fun. One of those tests to tell you "what ______ you are" based on the fathers of the church.http://www.monachos.net/forum/images/smilies/tongue.png
http://www.fathersofthechurch.com/quiz/

My result was:
You are St. Jerome!

You’re a passionate Christian, fiercely devoted to Jesus Christ and his Church. You are willing to labor long hours in the Lord’s vineyard, and you have little patience with those who are less willing or able to work as you do. Your passions often carry you into temptation zones of wrath, lust, and pride. http://www.monachos.net/forum/images...s/rolleyes.png

Count me in the fun!

You are Origen!

You do nothing by half-measures. If you’re going to read the Bible, you want to read it in the original languages. If you’re going to teach, you’re going to reach as many souls as possible, through a proliferation of lectures and books. If you’re a guy and you’re going to fight for purity … well, you’d better hide the kitchen shears.

You are St. Melito of Sardis!

You have a great love of history and liturgy. You’re attached to the traditions of the ancients, yet you recognize that the old world — great as it was — is passing away. You are loyal to the customs of your family, though you do not hesitate to call family members to account for their sins.
Well, I don't know about all that in my life, but if I need to brush on St. Melito of Sardis, I shall.

Paul

I wonder who all I lost out to.

I dont really think the framing of the quiz was realistic ... some of those questions forced me to choose between options were none of them really are my current thinking or opinion but based on the choices ...this is who I turned out to be ...very interesting and a great honour! I am wondering how many fathers there are to choose between.

Not to mention some 'issues' with their definition of "Church Father". While Origen is certainly seen as a prolific writer and respected resource for early Church history, he most certainly is NOT seen as a "Church Father" by many churches. And yes, these "quizzes" of necessity try to "force" you into a specific category, because they only have so many categories to fit you into!

Herman who is a father but not a Father nor a FATHER Pooh

I fell into the same camp--and I will have to read about him as I am not familiar with him, new as I am.

I should have started my search at home. From what I am reading about him on the web, he does not "sound" too Orthodox in his writings. But maybe I am just not in a position to understand all he is writing. Can anyone add to this?

Kinda interesting. Fits me about as well as you can get from these things.

You are St. Justin Martyr!

You have a positive and hopeful attitude toward the world. You think that nature, history, and even the pagan philosophers were often guided by God in preparation for the Advent of the Christ. You find “seeds of the Word” in unexpected places. You’re patient and willing to explain the faith to unbelievers. I remember running across the BeliefNet quiz (or one like it) back when I started looking into Orthodoxy. I was surprised at the time when I scored 97% or 98% Eastern Orthodox as my highest score (I was not surprised that nothing got 100%). I've shifted a little since then (only listing the top eight, since there was a big drop in score after that):

1. Eastern Orthodox (100%)
2. Roman Catholic (100%)
3. Seventh Day Adventist (97%)
4. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (95%)
5. Orthodox Quaker (88%)
6. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (67%)
7. Hinduism (67%)
8. Orthodox Judaism (67%) Michael

At least that one gave me an advice of a good book to read.

When I took it a second time (because some answers were really not what I was feeling) I was St. Justin the Martyr. However I do not see anything wrong with Origen. http://www.monachos.net/forum/images/smilies/smile.png

1. Orthodox Quaker (100%)
2. Eastern Orthodox (92%)
3. Hinduism (92%)
4. Roman Catholic (92%)
5. Seventh Day Adventist (91%) http://www.monachos.net/forum/images/smilies/eek.png I didn't get Orthodox!

I've taken this test before. They changed the format; it used to have more question designed so you could choose multiple answers. As I recall, in that version, my results were:

1. Eastern Orthodox (100%)
2. Hinduism (???%)
3. Sikhism (???%)
4. Jainism (???%)
5. Islam (???%) I liked those results better.http://www.monachos.net/forum/images/smilies/tongue.png
