It's not so common at UK sporting events any more, but England's football (soccer) team have had some of their coloured players insulted by members of the opposition's less enlightened fans. It's still quite bad in some countries in southern Europe.

Obviously, as Lewis Hamilton is the first high profile coloured driver, he will attract the attention of these morons. The perceived animosity between himself and Alonso, the darling of the Spanish crowds, is no doubt the catalyst, but there's no excuse for this kind of ignorance.
