help me to find $ 1

I, You and he go to

restaurant and in the end the account gave $30. We made the following one:
each one gave ten dollars.
I:$10

You: $10
He:$10
The waiter took the money until the box and the owner of the restaurant said the following

one: - These three are old customers of the restaurant, then I go to return $5 for them!
The waiter delivered

five notes of $1.
The waiter, very smart, made the following one:
he caught $ 2 for himself and he gave $1 for

each one of us. In the end :
I: $10 (- $1 that was returned) = I spent $9.
You: $10 (- $1 that was returned)

= You you spent $9.
He: $10 (- $1,00 that was returned) = He spent $9.
Soon, if each one of us spent $9 what

we three spend together $27.
If the waiter caught $2 for himself, then
We: $27
Waiter: $2:
TOTAL : $29

The question:
Where is the other $1?

Don\'t read

this unless you want it to be spoiled...

The answer is that people are doing inaccurate math when they ask where

the final dollar is. Believe me, you can get people baffled for hours or forever with this one, but the genius of

the question is in the sneakiness of the wording. When the total was $30 and the owner gave back $5 to the waiter,

the total is now $25, not $30. Each man gave $9, which totals to $27. The waiter kept $2, and the owner has $25.

When you think of it that way, all of the money is accounted for (The three are down $27, the owner has $25, and the

waiter has $2 AKA $27 = $2 + $25). Thinking that there\'s still a $30 bill is a fallacy, as is adding $2 to the

$27 when it was actually taken away instead.

To DRILL in the point, think about what happens if they gave the $3

back: The three gave $30, the owner would have $28, and the waiter would still have $2.

Get it? Got it? Good.
