Back in the day before FM radio was the in or just starting thing.
Remember WWL and WLS am radio as the kool stations to tune into. Californian punks need not apply-- ![]() Am was more popular than Fm, except selected city's of size. Clear channel radio, Who remembers wolf man Jack? Edit: mods I screwed up the title, can fix? Thanks in advanced if so. |

LISTEN TO ALL YOUR FAVORITE CBS Radio Mystery Theater EPISODES ONLINE FOR FREE! In 1974 long-time radio producer Himan Brown convinced CBS to green-light a new anthology of Radio Dramas, CBS Radio Mystery Theater (CBSRMT). Radio Drama had been declared "dead" twelve years before. CBS Radio Mystery Theater was meant to appeal to an audience that remembered when radio drama was a popular form of family entertainment. Riding on the wave of nostalgia fever, the radio show attracted many younger listeners who would stay up late, hidden under their covers to hear the program on their bedroom radio (and many of them were not able to go to sleep after listening to the frightening program!) CBSRMT was able to attract a wide array of talent. Many of the voices that were popular during the Golden Age of Radio made appearances on CBS Radio Mystery Theater, and younger talent, often from CBS Daytime Television and NY area stage was used as well. |

Hell in the mid or so 70's I looked forward to episodes of "The shadow" and other radio dramas, Driving to work in the very early morning they made my start of the day right. And some of that shit has stuck in my head ever since.
"Who knows what evil lurks in the harts of men? The shadow knows!" Magnes what lurks in your heart? If you have one? |

Elevator music. Ran on a large reel at the station. One reel lasted 12 hours. As a consequence lots of distortion. Was broadcast on a subcarrier frequency of some FM stations. It was a subscription service. Ether your were there or not in the time line. yes now it maybe something else but back then. .....Most of it was live with recorded music, as with wolf man jack at the time. This is solid mid to lat 60's into mid or early 70's. Ether you were there at the time or not. go play in the street. |

I ran the PA system at a John Denver concert. BJ Thomas was originally scheduled but his kid ate a cigar and Denver was a last minute substitute. Bj and john Denver sorta came later, I am talking mid to late 60's to early 70's . Denver came later. |

Back in Cuba no tv till 1952 but my home never had any.......I still remember programs like "The Phanton", "Mandrake The Magician", "Roy Rogers", "The Shadow" all translater into spanish.....and then we had "Los Tres Villalobos" in original Spanish that was about three brothers fighting "Sakiri El Malayo" a mean Asian ganster in a cowboy setting.
Radio shows espanded the mind because you always had to create and use your own backdrop in all shows and made you think of what was going on...........love it........this helped me in my future life because I didn't have to wait for someone else to tell me what to do. First post of the day...............good morning to one and all. |

Being a kid in the mid 60's I was fascinated by the far away places I could receive on my am radio, constructing makeshift antaennas out of long wires, snaking them out my window and up the tree. Listening to WSM and all the country legends in Nashville and feint signals from across the country and sometimes around the world if the weather was just right. All different kinds of politics, music, radio dramas, Tom Snyder and too many to remember off the top of my head. Trying to keep the volume low enough that the folks couldn't hear it from under my covers, until I found that special ear nub listening device. Good times.

Muzak for Muzak. Basically what he did, as he described it to me, was to "rewrite" existing pop tunes just enough to qualify the musical scores as original in order to circumvent copyright infringement law restrictions. They were and are still into the research and implementation of the psychological properties of music to enhance a populations consumer habits. |
