Red in winter
Went for a walk at my regular haunt this morning.. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/tongue.gif A bit too early to catch Oncidium maculatum and Schomburgkia superbiens in bloom, but managed to see these:
Red hot pokers (Kniphofia sp. ) 2011: http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...y/IMG_8335.jpg http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...y/IMG_8334.jpg http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...y/IMG_8332.jpg Poinsettias in July: http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...y/IMG_8340.jpg A towering flowering aloe: http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...y/IMG_8347.jpg Aloe on the ground: http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...y/IMG_8349.jpg |

I love the RHPs.
They look great in alot of landscapes, except mine. Ended up disposing. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif |
I love the flowers of the red hot poker, but I have issues with the foliage growth habit. I had it growing in the garden of my townhome years ago. The leaves practically laying on the ground looked messy and unkept. I eventually took it out. But I do love the flowers!

Yes, the plants do look very messy when not in bloom, as can be seen in the pic. But it makes a nice landscape display when in flower.. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/biggrin.gif
