I was wondering when someone would hail the fourth. I never got around to it. Thanks Eric.

Thought NBC's coverage of the Macy's show was terrible.
Watched for 5 minutes, then found something else to do.
Extremely dissappointed.
Hopefully next year we have some Boston Pop.

Had a great time watching fireworks accompanied by patriotic music in Bolingbrook, IL; it's amazing how many songs their are that celebrate our nation's independence. We celebrate our freedom and feel sadness for those who have lost their lives defending it. Rock on America, rock on........

Bolingbrook, that's where the PSP Chicago paintball event was held for years, by the water park. This year it went back to Badlands in Indiana.

I celebrated by re-watching HBO's John Adams. If you haven't seen it, it is well worth the time. Very well worth it!

I had a very busy day. I have been working on a quilt that will be donated to an organization that will distribute to a wounded soldier. I finished piecing the quilt top on Memorial Day and my goal was to quilt and bind the quilt by July 4. I was successful and completed the quilt yesterday morning.

I am also a fan of Gary Sinise. He is known for his acting in the movies Forrest Gump, Ransom, Apollo 13, and most recently as Mac Taylor on CSI: NY. What you may not know is that he is also passionate about supporting the troops, veterans, and first responders with his band the Lt. Dan Band. The band travels all over the world entertaining the troops and doing charitable concerts. There has also been a documentary made about his efforts. The movie was released online yesterday, so I watched the movie while finishing the quilt. If anyone is interested, they can view the movie at ltdanbandmovie.com. Some of the funds from the movie cost are donated to the Gary Sinise Foundation to support the troops and first responders. I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it.

After finishing the quilt and movie, I went down to Freedom Fest at Joint Base Lewis/McChord. The public was invited to the party. There were carnival rides, lots of food, a great car show, and best of all a concert by the Lt. Dan Band.

Here is one of the cars used as "General Lee" in the Dukes of Hazzard TV show:

Here's Gary Sinise in action:

After that concert the Army Band did a concert of patriotic music. The 1812 Overture is quite cool with real cannon fire . After the concert, they had a fireworks show that was also excellent.
