Found a link of apple.com/trailers for Diary of the Dead. Which is apparantly a new film from George A. Romero but does kind of look like it's tried to rip off Cloverfield. But hopefully it'll be better than Land of the Dead and that garbage which was the Dawn of the Dead remake.

Ha, I just watched that about 10 min ago! It looks decent, I like the style, I've always liked the style. Blair Witch started it and Cloverfield honed it down to a perfect amount. Hopefully they won't go too over the top but also won't pull out from the first person camera perspective too much since that kills the whole style. I love zombies so as long as they're not too smart or too fast then it'll be fine on that end.
Just give me a dark movie that isn't actually hiding anything and a rich audio experience with zombies and "amateur" film style and I'll be happy, it can't be too easy to **** that up, can it? |

This looks promising, I love a good Zombie movie. I do hope Mr Romero has kept his traditional slow-moving zombies though. The speed that the one in the morgue (under the sheet) sits up and grabs that person makes me wonder. There's nothing wrong with fast-moving zombies (28 Days/Weeks Later were great), but I'd like to see continuity in the Romero films and not have him change direction, going for all-out-action etc.
Also, it's nice to see that it's not a re-make! [thumbup] |

If you want them to appear fast and trap people then that's when you use the numbers against them. Keep them moving slow but even focus for half a minute on some coming at you and you turn around to see five coming from behind and three coming up the stairs, etc. That's the scary panic part, you are freaking out because the dead are walking, but it seems pretty easy, stay moving and you'll out walk them, except that they're EVERYWHERE and no matter how fast you move and how much in the open you are you run out of directions to go. What do you do then? Find high ground and try to wait it out while they move in closer and closer, or try to get past them, or find another route? It's panic time. |
