This just in - Ornette Coleman wins the 2007 Pulitzer Prize in Music for Sound Grammar (that's got to be better than a good review in Downbeat) and John Coltrane gets Quote:

Duke Ellington was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 1965. He didn't win.
He was quoted as something like, ...the good lord doesn't want me to be too famous too soon.
Nice to see Ornette Coleman honoured. I guess he was able to be around long enough to garner this prestigious award.
