Need for Speed - Shift
I've bought this game yesterday after reading some pretty good reviews. And, of course, after hearing that it would be closer to NFS Prostreet and Porsche in handling. After the installation (which was about 20 minutes long!) I was very eager to try it out... Only to find out that the game crashes with some custom graphics settings. After surfing the web and finding out that a lot of other people have this problem too, I downloaded Graphics settings that make the game actually work.
To the game itself… I wasn't a big fan of the cheesy Underground series and Undercover, but this is awesome! After the first race, you can choose how realistic the will be. It is suitable for both casual players (what my good friend can confirm :-)) and for people who crave something closer to a simulation. I love that the game conveys the feeling of speed very well; you can even feel how 'light' the car gets at high speeds without changing the aerodynamic settings. Also, there are heaps of different cars to choose from, and the choices aren't as boring as with the last few games. Furthermore, money isn't a problem since the races pay well. The graphics, granted, aren't as superb as GT5 and the new Forza, but I am running low settings until there is a fix for the crashes mentioned above. Besides, if you're not blessed with a console you don't have the choice of the other racing games either. So, any of you guys thinking about buying the game? Or bought it already? I'd like to hear your opinion on that :-) |
what format have you got it on?
If they are doing this game for PS2 then i'll buy it, but I refuse to buy a PS3 until they drop to about £150, so I'm missing out on some good games at the moment http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/frown.gif I do want this game at some point.. I have every NFS game on PS1 and PS2 |
I didn't know it was on sale already. So, is Shift more of a simulator, then? IMO, an NFS game without cops, free roam and street racing is odd. Most Wanted is my favourite in the series.
