i have four...

two are dells with core2duo's and 2gb ram
one is a P4 2.8 with 512mb
one is an athlon xp based thing i think.

the reason there's so many is that two are classified secret, untouchable machines. one is a stand alone and unclassified machine. one is on an intranet with net access and is unclassified as well.

I use two, both are pretty average.

3.0ghz P4, 2GB DDR2 onboard vid just used for my monitor tools

& Some core2duo Dell thing, Optiplex 750 I think; which I basically play games on and browse the web.
It's onboard vid as well but it plays CIV IV revolution nicely which I've owned for a year and still havn't beat.

I've also got a little Alpha server under my desk but it's mostly gathering dust until the next test is required.

I'm so lucky to have the following:

Athlon 64 3200+
512MiB DDR RAM
Integrated GeForce 6150
Brandless 17" LCD monitor

The damn thing is the work of Satan...

I don't know what you do as a Job but complain about your memory, most reasonable people would stick an extra 512 {at least} in that.

And when I say reasonable, one of my boys fishes IDE cables out the bin and even he thinks 512 is too stingy on XP.

A64 3000+ (2Ghz) Venice
MSI K8MM-V (S-754)
2gb DDR
160gb HDD
CD-Rom + DVD Burner
Geforce 6200 AGP
19in WS + 17in secondary LCD
Win XP x64

I basically just grabbed stuff that was lying around and begged my boss for a few of the better things (Vid card and 19in WS). Gets the job done...

'Reasonable' is an...interesting term to use here - I lecture in physics and maths, so you'd think that if I requested some maths software to be installed, then it would be done as a priority. It took six months before arriving and even then, the installation went wrong...

The actual tech guys are fine - it's the IT Services managers that are numbnuts.

3Ghz P4 with 2GB RAM, made up from parts lying around the stock room. I only use it for outlook and logging onto other PCs so it doesn't need to be massively fast.

I built mine myself, onboard VIA C7 1.5Ghz mATX, 2GB w/Ubuntu, MySQL and OpenOffice 3.0

Cheap, small, uber quiet and ridiculously underpowered, but it does the job....
