Here are my plans.... Buy two Sony Explod 12" subs with 1100 peak watts for about $70 each and a Sony Explod amp with 500 watts and 4/3 channel for about $100. Then I will build my own box for the subs or super-kindly ask my parents to help pay for separate boxes for each sub at about $30 each. This is all in my budget (except for the boxes) which obviously wasn't very high to begin with. Naga said go with instinct (and paper too... ) and my instinct is telling me to go to WalMart and buy those subs and amp. If... you guys think that the subs and amps will not work together well.. tell me... please. There were smaller subs there if there is any doubt. Thanks for the suggestions and tips.
Find out how many RMS per channel the amp puts out, at this point if you really want that Amp I would recommend only one 12 inch sub or maybe 2 smaller 10 inch ones, perhaps maybe one 10 inch sub because that amp sounds like its fairly small. RMS ratings are all that count, not maximum Watts.

In my opinion car audio installation is one of the easiest things you can do to your car. I started on my system with no knowledge what so ever and did everything my self and it turned out fine. Car alarms on the otherhand are difficult, I bought a VDO car alarm in my car and have not been able to get the microphone sensor to work still, I think it maybe broken

yea, like Axle said, be very sure your amp suits the power needs of your sub...I find it hilarious when people have subs each connected to their own 1000 watt amps, yet the subs need less than half that power if not a quarter of it...you can blow speakers with too much power, and you can also blow them with too little power...so be careful about what amps you choose...

RMS... first.. What's that? lol If I must, I can opp for just one or going with 10's. There were some 10" subs there with 700 or 800 peak watts. Going with just one 12" or 10" would save me money too.. hmm.
Also, the previous owner had a system in the car, so it is already wired up basically.
