Default Just got rocked by a quake.
Nothing major, but it's the first quake I've felt in probably 15 years. Blinds in my window kept swaying back and forth, and it felt like someone was gently rocking my chair. At first I thought it was the heavy construction next door (dump trucks etc), but now reports are coming in that it was a 6.4 off the coast.

Tsunami!!!

Vancouver Island it seems.
Seems to have been ~175miles a way.
Will have to call my brother in law. He lives in Surrey, but works in downtown Vancouver.

All my life, I've heard that the big one will hit us soon. Good thing I live at a whopping 11M above sea level.

I never felt a thing. I guess I was probably in bed at the time.

Apparently I'm about 15 meters above sea level. Top of the hill. Close by the roads go way down.

Got the heart beating a bit faster, no doubt.

That whole Americas coast, from Terria del Fuego to the Aleutian Islands, is a very active fault line.
Just a matter of time before another big one - 8+ - strikes with the resultant tsunami to back up the quake damage. Some areas, such as around Boston, are regarded as being well overdue!
