She only faces life when she's been convicted and sentenced.

Exactly! So the wording of the title is correct. I don't know why you're even arguing about this.....unless you're on a massive wind up.

It's not me a meaning's eluding, it's you.
She will face those charges, which have a penalty of life in prison while on trial. At that point, she thus faces life in prison... there is no doubt that she will face those charges with that penalty. In the US, where this was written, you face your accusers, their charges, and your possible punishment while you are on trial. You serve your sentence. Not face it.

Zeddoo, you're wrong, here's some examples:

Woman convicted of murder could face life in prison for trying to protect her autistic son from chemotherapy. Link.

12-year-old could face life in prison for slaying. Link.

Gilroy Man Could Face Life In Prison For Killing Puppy. Link.

Man Could Face Life in Prison for 3 Grams of Marijuana. Link.

Elizabeth Smart kidnapper could face life in prison. Link.

They are all worded the same way regardless of whether it's man or woman.

It's very simple:

Charged but not yet convicted: Could face sentence

Convicted but not sentenced: Faces sentence

After being convicted and sentenced: Serves sentence
