I work with many ex airplane mechanics/metal workers and others who have worked for Frontier and American Airlines, and they say that those carriers are always looking to shortcut most repairs done to any jet, whether it be boeing or airbus. The **** theyve told me about the things they have to repair is scary.

The **** theyve told me about the things they have to repair is scary. Qantas and Virgin Australia have been questioned over this 737 report, and their response was that any issues would be reported by aircraft maintenance. Considering the amount of work that has to be done to check this possible 737 I very much doubt any aircraft have been taken out of service to look at this. |

So let me get this straight. You wont believe an ounce of this unless it's aired by Fox News? The people telling the story are ex American Boeing employees! 2) I'd never believe Fox News at all 3) Likd ex-girlfriends, like ex-employees have a motive to lie and hold grudges. |

1) I never believe much news 100% If any of you knew anyone who has worked for the airline industry as a shop worker/mechanic, Ud be scared too.....but it seems 99.9% of the public is confident the plane if tip top...which isnt the case. Just to say the least...whenever they delay your plane cuz of technical difficulties and they say they got a new plane....thats utter BS, they just made some jimmy rig repair to the plane ur were originally supposed to board!! |

Well Ive heard some disturbing reasons as to why not to repair an aircraft for the sake of letting it fly. |

the same pilots that sleep in car`s or on sofa`s between shifts? the same pilots who are on minimum wages or pay to fly in the right hand seat just to get hours?
as for links: http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Sky...20080641231468 thats from 2006 - and its been buried since. |

the same pilots that sleep in car`s or on sofa`s between shifts? the same pilots who are on minimum wages or pay to fly in the right hand seat just to get hours? I'm not daft enough to think every plane is perfectly maintained but I'm not neurotic enough to worry about it daily either. |

You're right. I should give up rational thought and be scared every time I get on a plane. Your argument that if a pilot is flying the plane then it must be safe, is just daft and ignorant. Planes that crash due to malfunctions have pilots in them too... just to point that out to you. No plane is perfect and I'm sure pilots are just as much in the dark about any known manufacturing faults as we are until something happens... |

Your argument that if a pilot is flying the plane then it must be safe, is just daft and ignorant. You have no control over plane maintenance, yet you're willing to fret about it. That's stupidity my friend. EDIT: Learn to read, I didn't say I thought every pilot was safe for the whole journey, just that I'll stick to trusting their judgement on whether the plane can technically fly. I know you're on the other side of the world, but that doesn't mean you need to turn your screen upside down to read it. EDIT: Exactly what experience do you have of airline maintenance other than Al Jazeera TV? |

a pilot is like a bus driver - he(or she) turns up after minimum sleep , and goes about a days work, and unless you work for the big national airlines - your not getting paid alot , or in the case of ryan air - FO`s who come from cadet school actually pay ryan air to fly.
you did know that, didnt you?? how many 737`s are still flying with defective rudder pumps? or airbus A300`s with the original rudder control arms? both were supposed to be changed under mandate - but lets see how the likes of the big boys deal with things like taking an aircraft off the line to fix them: http://www.usatoday.com/travel/fligh...nce02_VA_N.htm The biggest was $7.5 million last March against Southwest. The airline operated 46 Boeing 737 jets on 59,791 flights in 2006 and 2007 without mandatory fuselage inspections for fatigue cracking. Six planes had cracks, the FAA says. After Southwest became aware it hadn't made the inspections, the airline continued to operate the 46 planes on an additional 1,451 flights ![]() edit: even the FAA believe SWA flew aircraft that were not `airworthy` http://articles.cnn.com/2008-03-06/u...ctors?_s=PM:US yet the pilots , under orders to fly them or lose there jobs carried on as if nothing was wrong. |

****ING LOL
you are an idiot, seriously - so many users here are so correct in the opinion of you. you have so little understanding of the issue you blindly carry on regardless and here is the final closure : http://www.nerdylorrin.net/jerry/pol...le17Apr06.html Ducommun's statement said it never made a payment to Boeing as a financial settlement, but according to documents reviewed by The Post, the company agreed in January 2001 to a $1.6 million settlement with Boeing for overbilling and manufacturing problems. Boeing declined to comment they gave boeing 1.6million but ofc admitted nothing |

****ING LOL I'm sure there are some maintenance defects on planes, the same as cars, buses, fairground rides, swimming pools, trampolines and any other man made object, but I'm not enough of a p***y to let it stop me travelling. And if you do start worrying about all these things you get stressed and have panic attacks. Grow up you idiotic child. Again - what experience of airline maintenance do you have other than what you've read in the press? And if you are in airline maintenance, try not to come back with some smug reply as I'm happy to take your word for it if you are actually qualified to give it. EDIT: Until you can get your head around the fact that I'm not arguing with you over whether or not there is an issue and I'm just saying it's not worth worrying about there is absolutely no point you replying. |

lol moose...
You have no idea about aviation yet you come in spouting nonsense. At least there are a few of us in this forum that know a thing or two about planes and the industry because we actually have an interest in it. I'm by no means an expert, but I'm sure I've read more material, watch more documentaries and even piloted an aircraft more hours than you have. The biography of Captain Sully Sullenburger is a nice read too, very safety concious guy... If you don't know who that guy is then please leave this thread. |

lol moose... I don't claim to understand airline maintenance. What I'm saying is if you're such a mincey little girl that you let stuff like this (which you have no control whatsoever over) bother you then you'd never go anywhere. Who's thicker: Me for accepting the risk and travelling anyway, or you and harlic**t for thinking you know the full facts of an industry that you are not in, and have no commercial experience of? By the way, the biggest idiots in the world are the ones who think that theoretical knowledge from books makes them an expert on a subject. |

Oh moose you have me all worked out! You're right, I'm p*ssing my pants at the prospect of flying now. Where in this thread did I say I was worried? Oh drat! I forgot to cancel my flights to New York, oh nooooooooo ahhhhhhhh, save me moose I don't want to go anywhere in a plane again. [rolleyes] When I said "you" I didn't literally mean you. I mean people as a society. I feel like I've lost a lot of brain cells in this discussion. |

Because as you've so clearly displayed you're such an expert on this threads topic. Yet you still want to give you high and almighty option. [rofl] Do you get punched in the face a lot for no apparent reason? |
