Default Premiership football transfers
Anybody been keeping up with the day? We (Liverpool) have got Suarez for 23 mill (good deal) and Andy Carroll for 35 million. Which is way over the top. And after all that Charlie Adam is staying at Blackpool. A few rather funny transfer bids have been rejected as well.

Replicate the transfer deadline day in your work's canteen by panic-buying a pot noodle for £20, a minute before they close.

Nice tranfers from a fans pov (unless your a Newcastle fan)

Liverpool got two great strikers to replace Torres, these new moves should lighten up the premiership even more.

Wow, that was probably the biggest January transfer day in years. Can't believe both Torres and Carroll have switched clubs for record amounts. Also apparently Spurs were minutes from signing Charlie Adams....

Exciting stuff.

The presenters at SkySports News were going nuts... but I was too busy staringat hayley McQueen.

But still... Andy Carroll for £35million... c'mon lol!!!

As a Gunners fan - wish Arsene would have got a decent defender but I still have the utmost respect for him.
Even though we haven't won a trophy - we are fully sustainable and financially more secure than a lot of other teams.
We are better off getting a good deal or bargain during the summer rather than the stupid prices going during the January window.

Don't forget - the players/agents will have forced extortionate wages with the desperate clubs to seal the deal last minute too.

He should just sell Denilson, Diaby, Almunia, Squillaci and Bendtner to, i don't know, some german/french clubs and buy one world class defender. I hope Vermallen is ready for Barcelona...

By the way i almost smashed my PC seeing Average Al in the starting lineup against Hudd... Sure AW is the man but why he insists on using these clowns in important games is beyond me.

Was this really a 50 million pound deal?

"Chelsea have broken the British transfer record by paying a reported £50m to seal the capture of striker Fernando Torres from Liverpool."

Everyone attacks the premiership english teams with all this big money spending etc (Especially FIFA etc, they hate the English game) Yet they don't say anything or release press news about Real Madrid/Barcelona spending 55 to 80 million euro's on a single player.

They do quite often, it's just in the financial press. What gets the coverage in the UK is that two of the largest clubs' takeovers (Liverpool and Manchester United) were financed through leveraged debt which can cripple a club through cashflow. Manchester United were in pretty big trouble before their 2010 bond issue allowed them to restructure interest payments and be free of the wrangles of the banks that mortgaged the club. From my understanding, both Real Madrid and Barcelona work their debt pretty much like an overdraft/loan, which works much more simply. Clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea effectively have mounds of cash that they can tap in to, which is different again.

I don't think that article is attacking anything just because it's English. It's just hi-lighting what can seem like an obscure level support and loyalty toward a corporation that has absolutely no roots in the local area from which it draws the majority of it's paying fans.

Yeah, was not really commenting on the article, just in a bit of a rant!
