So, was going to Clearwater, Florida with some family, but that fell through. Dad is going to have knee surgery so most everyone bailed.

My family and I are still thinking of going, but just not that far.


We like Panama City Beach, but have been there 1 to 2 times per year for 3 or 4 years now.
Destin is a possibility but is a bit more expensive. It stretches the budget a lot.


Has anyone been to Hilton Head in South Caroline or Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island in Flordia. I have heard of Hilton Head and that it is a good location, but Fernandina sounds familiar but not sure.
I know that there is a lot to do in these areas. Both have cities near them, Savanah for Hilton and Jacksonville for the latter. Fernandina is a lot closer to Cumberland Island and Jekyll Island, but I hear there is a lot to do in Hilton Head as well. Plus I know at least up there there is a lot of history landmarks spotted all over the place. Like forts and what not.

Even if we do end up in Destin, Florida, the oil is not there yet.

Fernandina and Hilton Head are both in the Atlantic so no worries there.

Hilton Head, Jekyll Island and St Simon's islands are all within your reach. I highly recommend all three.

the only other thing to consider is if you did choose Destin or Navarre or Panama City or whatever, you stay there for practically nothing at this point. needless to say, the tourism is down. You'd definately get some sick deals.
