I know what proportion of our fuel prices are tax, but at the same time these companies such as BP are making huge profits.
Don't blame them for making huge profits, that's what a company's supposed to do. Blame them for ignoring safeguards, neglecting safety concerns, and f@cking up all together.

Well no, I don't blame them for making huge profits, I know it's the government who bend us over with fuel taxes. I can imagine oil companies make huge profits partly by cutting corners though...

I wish the old posts were still there is all I have to say, you've been fairly nasty on more than a few occasions,I remember some other rather violent outbursts coming from you on various subjects.
Well then, all i have left to say is that you are utterly full of sh!t.
Any outburst that ever came from me were against the US attacking Iraq, being in Iraq or not leaving Iraq.

I think you are thinking about someone else.

For what it's worth I seem to remember GolemFrost was against any invasion of Iraq.

Don't make me get my derail fail pic out again...

I came into this thread expecting a discussion about BP share prices, a possible takeover and the effect it will have on the British economy...

Yeah accidents are caused, but not on purpose. Police say RTI not because they aren't all accidents.
Neither is something like this if it is due to negligence. Which is why there is a criminal investigation under way.

can it be classed as negligence when it was the rig engineers that had their hands forced by the big wigs.

I honestly would commit suicide if I was the BP boss or one of the officials who perpetrated this failure.

all those poor animals don't care much for the human side of things (although I sympathize with the locals) because humans can move on animals cannot

Animals also don't use the internet, what is your point? I think it is becoming borderline stupid.

I think what OHP is trying to get at, is that its easy for humans to move from their homes, but its not so easy for animals to move from theirs.

Its like asking Polar Bears to move to a Hot country or expecting Lions and Tigers to live in the North Pole.

The Animals along those Coastal regions probably come back there year after year to Breed, Nest etc and by destroying their Natural Habitat and feeding grounds etc, Your basically forcing them to move into or onto an area that might be "alien" to them.

Birds that Survive on a particular species of fish only found in one part of those coastal waters, might be forced to move somewhere else where that particular fish is not found, etc.

I have to confess that it's photoshopped. But that's how I read it when I saw the headline. : )

Pity, it could have been like the British newspaper that headlined "the Large Hardon Collider" ...
