Default Best TV on the planet?
Is it still the Pioneer Kuro 60 inch? I want to know. I have enough money to buy it cash now. Let me know if LCD's have even come close yet. I don't relish paying 4K for a tv but if nothing comes close I want to know.

I want a 50 to 60 inch tv that is the best or close to it. LCD or Plasma, I know the Kuro is the best. Is there anything close in LCD?

I really don't think that unless you have the worlds best vision and the worlds best sound system and the most perfectly set up cinema room in the world that you are going to notice the difference between this and a 1k TV in real world operation. Leave this one to the people that are very rich and don't care about the cost and have a bloody good time with the left over 3k.

Not enough serious answers here.

As far as I know myself, the Kuro is still the best available. At very least ONE of the best.

Afaik the only TV better than the Kuro 60" is the Kuro 60" Elite. My dad has it and it is really nice . They also don't make them anymore. So if you want one better get in while the getting is good.

My $0.02 though is that I wouldn't be spending $4k on a TV right now, 3D sets are just around the corner. You may not want to invest so heavily in 2D right now. If you don't care for 3D though, the by all means...

I posted a TV with a diagonal size of 103 Inches, a phenomenal picture Quality and sporting a price that would make Bill Gates check his pockets (162570 $)
And you guys keep going on about a 60" Kuro,..

I know it´s Utopic, but you did ask for the best TV on the Planet, I´ve had the chance to see this one in action and can only say, it IS.

He mentioned spending $4k, so why even mention a TV that costs $162570? |:

Any goot LCD TV that matches good Plasma TVs? Just curious as electricity price have once again soared in Australia and our electricity price ever since getting a 52" plasma tv has gone up about $100. Now paying $600-700+ every quarter year just in electricity,

LCD will save a bit of money on that.

Heya Golem, I did mention a budget. I know about the Plasma wall but it's a little outrageous in the price department. Besides, Gates wouldn't even think twice about it, he probably has ten of them.

Wrong!

He pays actors to come and preform all tv shows live in his basement.

That goes to show you simply don't know the first thing about home theater. [rofl]

They still are very much some of the best out there. Which model Kuro are you looking at? LCDs do not even hold a candle to the Pioneer plasmas in regards to black levels, color reproduction and overall image quality.

I'm looking hard at the pdp 6020fd! Are there any LCD's that come close? Or like someone else said, should I just get an in-betweener until the 3D sets come in?

LCDs do not even come close and consumer 3D display tech is very new and content will be quite limited for some time. You could get a cheaper display now but a good 3D set with a fair amount of content is a ways out.

3D is still in the gimmick phase right now, I wouldn't even consider it until 1) you know it is there to stay and 2) there is enough content out there that warrants buying it.
