Because it's the easiest way to water fields. In a circle like that. This sort of area of the country wouldn't support farming like that with the normal rain fall. They have massive sprinklers on wheels that go around in a big circle.

They use a sprinkler system to water the fields. Its like a clock, where each arm of the clock spins around a single fixed point in the middle, the spinning motion makes a circle. In this case, there is a large overheard sprinkler on wheels that moves at a constant speed and rotates around a fixed point.
