We went to a 1 min silence in Trafalgar Sq. I think we could do with being silent for more than a minute

We do 2 minutes here, but they must be the fastest minutes ever.

I'm getting ready to head to the cenotaph now. I am the bugler for our Legion.

Yeah 2 minutes here too. Sadly some people in the office show no want to pay respects to those that died, one even deliberately played music during this time to annoy others.

Fortunately, he is currently in the managers office.

I'll be taking a couple of minutes of quiet, reflective time out of my schedule today.

Great post - they should never be forgotten.

Theres always a bunch of prick kids in the crowd who think its funny or cool to make noises or speak during the silence. Makes you want to...want to write furiously on an internet forum

So, at what point will we no longer need to remember this day, at least in a moment of silence type of way? It has been, what...90+ years? that would put anyone who fought in it at the age of 105-110, minimum. Don't get me wrong, i understand the purpose, but just like the US doesn't take a moment of silence to specifically remember those that died in the civil war (a war ~60 years earlier).

Just wondering.

Apparently it was moved from armistice day to October and then back again both times during the 70s.

It's also now used for soldiers who've lost their lives in more recent times.
I tried to do my minute silence here in Japan - no one really noticed me though.

You noticed the soldiers with your silence. That's all that matters. [yes]

Hope everyone had a nice day yesterday. Was sunny and surprisingly warm for this time of year. Our ceremony was very nice and am happy to say I did not screw up the Last Post.
