Default Screw USPS Tracking!
Another government agency that can't do anything right!

You never would have thought that USPS did tracking with how their system works.
Whenever I get a tracking number from USPS, it NEVER updates until the package is at my door.

It will say
"package has been shipped" yet will not update until I get it. THEN it lists the time and places that it went to.

So, they seem to be a little better now at least.
At least they are posting something now, of what time it arrived at a distribution center, but doesn't say where. Though, one package has been on the road for 4 days now, and has only been updated once, yet a package shipping from the same place I got info the next day.

UPS and FedEx and even DHL update every single step of the way, pronto. Almost as if, once they scan the item I can see where it is at. What time is arrives, and what time it leaves and where from, etc.

I like to know where my packages are at. Builds up my excitement, and USPS fails. Fails to even accomplish a simple tracking system that everyone else has seemed to master.
You would figure, being $7 Billion in the Red year after year, that they could have a tracking system that others have mastered for years now.

Yeah, USPS tracking is just.. non existent. To be fair though, it isn't too surprising, given that I have no doubt that they move much larger volumes of mail/packages than FedEx and UPS, making tracking much more difficult. Still though, in this modern age, it would be nice if they revamped their system.

I gotta say, I hate UPS (not USPS, UPS) - OK, their website tracking is adequate, but when you get the message that they'll deliver between 8:00am and 7:00pm, it's kinda useless.

I called them on Saturday to see if I could pick up a package... "no sir, you'll have to come in on Monday"... right, because if I was free on Monday, I could wait for it to be delivered.

Last Christmas, my wife had ordered a gift for me, and it came on Christmas eve from UPS (they screwed up another delivery). The guy rang the bell and he immdiately walked back to his truck and started to drive off, just assuming I would not be in. I chased him down the street in the snow wearing my socks! [rofl] I wasn't happy with him, but he just gave me that NYC "so f****ing what" look.

I always leave feedback on sites to give other options aside from UPS.

You should think yourself lucky he actually bothered to knock, I've had couriers literally just come to the end of my drive, so it registers that they've come on their GPS, then get back in the van and drive off! On the tracking it says "failed delivery", but that was bollocks because I was in and saw the whole thing!

They can be inconsistent though. I've had UPS sod the signature and leave about $800 worth of silver coins sitting on my doorstep before. Fedex even left a few hundred dollars worth of ammo on my doorstep and I'm pretty sure that ought to be signed for.

USPS doesnt have tracking, its delivery confirmation, check your slip, it says delivery confirmation. the website is a little misleading because i think it mentions track, but in a way, its tracking when it arrives. It is there to protect the shipper, not so the one purchasing the goods can click refresh every hour to see where their mail is. it confirmed its delivery as intended. this way nobody can claim "It never arrived, i want my money back!"

USPS priority is always cheaper and more reliable than UPS/Fedex

and their flat rate boxes are awesome

Not always. When I had to RMA my hard drive earlier this year, UPS was a good $2-3 cheaper than USPS after you added tracking and insurance.

I get a lot through UPS (my fav) and it is pretty awesome. It leaves "place a" and I will go to Google and see how far it has to go to its next destination. (Newegg, their stuff always goes to the same distribution centers to get to my house) and say it takes 8hrs. Maybe an hour or two after the truck is supposed to be at "place b" it is updated!
Wow! Do you have aspergers?

That observation wasn't hard to notice though, especially when you order a lot from Newegg and always check the tracking every now and then.

Though, looked up aspergers, and it does seem like I could easily fit into this definition.

Pretty cool though. Thanks for knowing what that is, so know I know what it is!
Off to see what the Wife thinks.

Yeah, technically they don't offer "tracking" that other couriers offer. Although they do "track" packages. I've also been told that they sign for the palette of mail. Which means, if your mail or package is on the list of mail "supposed" to be on the palette, when they sign for the palette it means that your package may not actually be there. But it was logged as being there. I was not able to have explained to me that with this system in place, how is it possible to know where any packages are, ever?

Basically, they are idiots. They lost my mail a few times trying to tell me I was not able to receive a DHL delivery at my PO Box, which I actually can. After explaining to me that it was impossible about 7 days after DHL said they delivered my package, I found a "PLEASE PICK UP YOUR DHL PACKAGE AT THE DESK! LAST WARNING!" paper in my box.

Surprisingly out of all the mail that I have sent and received, only 1 package as been lost and it was one that I sent.
That is from all carriers.
