Witht he attitude of some of the posters, I'm not suprised they haven't had favourable interactions with Police officers. TBH, if I were one I doubt I'd be one for long as I've a low tolerance for being abused.
That said, some of the enfocement guys and gals are, to be frank, little Hitlers in a uniform. The best way, if you've the guts, is to file a complaint against the officer(s) in question. One complaint may not have much affect but if there are a few, then they stand a good chance of being fired - and lets face it, they deserve it.
In the case in question, it may have been a policy to pull over ANY vehicle that commits an offence, regardless of any special considerations that could/should have been applied. I this case, I would have thought a Police escort and a talk at the hospital would have been a better option but it wasn't my, or your, call.

Perhaps I've just been fortunate, but even when I've received tickets, the officers were polite and, as a probable result of my friendly attitude, I believe I've been let off a dozen or more tickets. When you take into account my usual appearance which is scruffy, to say the least, that may seem surprising.

Has anyone actually had a cop there when you needed them?

I'm guessing the vast majority had a cop show up after the fact and fill out a report...

Yup, even flagged them down on occasion - like drivers on the wrong side of the road.
Also had them show up when I didn't want them - hence the tickets

I can remember posting something after 9/11 about the mental state of the US and how they were blindly and willingly walking into facist ideals!
My father lived in Florida for many years and eventualy left because of the attitude or disreguard for peoples basic rights,

Police are meant to be there to protect the people, and if they are not that is why it was wrote in to your constitutional rights to bear arms to protect you from the tyrany.

Sad that this kind of stuff goes on unchallanged.

Sorry but everybody defending police... shut up, unless you are a cop that is a reasonable person every day then you are just spouting crap to argue.

I have been around probably a dozen cops in my life, luckily none of those situations involved me directly, but I had the misfortune of being present, I would say 2 maybe 3 of them were reasonable and did what they were supposed to do.

The rest were power trip douche bags that oozed mouth breathing moron with a gun.
No I will not shut up. This is a DISCUSSION BOARD! Not a place for people spout their prejudices unchallenged. If you don't like the fact that people disagree with you then I suggest you refrain from visiting this forum. [rolleyes]

The only one being annoying and idiotic is you; but then that seems to be what you do best.

I never said it was ok for the police to kill someone. Any cop that abuses their powers should be held accountable of course, but there's no reason to tar them all with the same brush.

Well, I would say you were one of the ones trying to start something - making stupid blanket statements about the Law enforcement persons.
Some cops are bad, they should be got rid of - some cops are damned good and should be encouraged!
There was a Sheriff a while back on TV's "Cops" that should have been on murder charges - they blocked in a kid who failed to stop on a minor traffic offense (probably paniced) and the b*st*rd ran over to the car and unloaded his pistol into the kid - no warning just opened fire, no previous convictions and he was gunned down like a cop-killer - or worse!

Like I said, most are good people doing a hell of a job - not surprising if they harden up with the sort of job they have and the sort of people they deal with every day.

I didnt read all the replies so this may have been said.

I am astounded the cops pulled over an ambulance.
I am also astounded the emt elbowed the cop in the face and then shoved him.LOL
I think the cops were wrong and the emt was within his rights UNTIL he elbowed the cop in the face. THEN, when he did that, he had just assaulted a cop. And that will prolly get him, the emt, in trouble.

To quote one of your earlier replies

"

Don't have a problem if it's about a specific Police officer - just when people make statements suggesting every officer is like the one(s) in question.
