First off I want to take the time out to thank the DEA for getting these dangerous, dangerous criminals off the streets. The reckless behavior of these individuals is unfathomable, building large amounts of muscle and destroying poor, helpless small T-Shirts everywhere. Forget Crack, Heroine, or Prescription Pain Medications, these anabolic steroids are the REAL cause of our country's downfall, causing Men and Women alike to push around weight we've never thought possible. Sure, the other drugs that were mentioned kill tens of thousands of people per year, but do they make you look scary and mean? They aren't killing anybody? Oh, because pro athletes are the only people who would use steroids. I forgot.

What about the average twenty something guy who's looking to bulk up to score some random strange at the bar. I'm sure he's properly trained, educated, and experienced enough to give himself multiple injections a day of a dangerous synthetic growth hormone he bought from some guy who gets his stuff from God knows where, probably Mexico or some multi-syllable country ending in -stan.

People who need hormones and are getting them from a doctor, under his supervision and expertise are the ones that are "just fine" not the ones just shoving needles full of stuff into their ass because this big dude at the gym said to... (that's what she said).

I almost did steroids when I was younger, it was readily available at my gym. A couple of cycles was 100 bucks. I got so damn tired of being called skinny. What stopped me was a guy there absolutely destroyed his hand punching a solid concrete wall over someone else not emptying a weight bar. In less than 10 mintues his whole arm looked like a lobster claw from swelling. Never saw him again.

Actually there have been a few steroid deaths and use is more widespread than you think. Apparently over use (which I guess means any use) calcifies your veins and arteries and causes heart disease.. So says the discovery channel...

But yeah I'm sure there are more dangerous criminals and drugs they could be dealing with.

I will saythat steroids don't have to be dangerous and can be quite beneficial under the right circumstances. However, these guys are giving who knows what to who knows whom without a doctors supervision to be abused. I read a report on the rising use of steroids by underage teens. If there is anyone that shouldn't be abusing them it is people who are still maturing.

Sure, herbs and vitamins are a great way to stay proactively healthy. I'm not against prescription medicine, but I think they are much overused and overprescribed. Look, I'm not saying anabolic steroids aren't dangerous to those who do not take the proper precautions and without proper doctor supervision, but for christ sake they prosecute these people like they are dealing crack cocaine.

Meh, roid rage isn't that big of an issue. Plenty of people out there are already off the rail and they're not on anything at all. Then of course there's alcohol, which is worse than many illegal substances. Blows my mind that they're arresting pot smokers and steroid users when alcohol destroys so many families and kills so many people. Mostly it's the innocent ones that die too.

Alternate medicines DO often work and are frequently the origin of the modern medical drug industry products - but I would prefer a doctor to treat me.
As for a 'harmless' drug, the steroids can cause considerable damage to the body over time - especially when abused or adulterated with unknown contaminants. This can be crippling joint damage, heart damage and, of course, severe liver damage.
However, some people still tend to class it in a similar way as smoking - and we know just how that can wreck or kill our bodies - and those around the smokers!
