LED Wall Light

Anyone know how much energy these things will take, says the've got 24 LEDs but doesn't say anything about power consumption in any shops i've seen them in

Unless you know the specs on the LEDs they're using, you really can't tell unless it says it on the package. I'd imagine not much, though. It does use LEDs...

LEDs are like SSDs, there are good ones and bad ones and you need to be careful when buying them

If you can buy it from a store with a great return policy, test it out with a KillaWatt or something similar. If it doesn't exceed your expectations, then you can return it.

The issue is less power consumption, but rather light production/power consumption.

candela only describes the brightness, not the amount of light produced

lux/lumen describes how much light it produces

Is electricity expensive over there?

Unless they are using Luxeon LED's, the power consumption would be extremely low.

A White Superflux LED can be ~ 3.4v @ 20mA and produce a lot of light w/ wide angle illumination. I made a LED array using these to replace the interior bulbs in my car.

So at 3.4v @ 20mA = 0.068watts

0.068w * 24 = 1.632watts not including power used in the LED driver itself .

I would have to say it probably doesn't use more then 2-3 watts of power. And guessing the illumination would probably be similar to a 40watt bulb equivalent.

I've seen 5watt LED bulbs be equivalent to 75-80watt incandescent bulb in illumination.
