I would seriously doubt that such magic pills exist - if they did, most students would be munching them down every night . Meaker's on the right lines though: the main answer is simply food - by filling up the stomach, you can help reduce the rate at which alcohol is absorbed but even then, it's still not going to change the fact that the total amount of alcohol absorbed by the body will still be equal to the amount consumed.

If you really want to look out for your friend, just make sure he doesn't binge-drink himself into a stupor; if that happens regardless, just make sure that somebody remains sober enough to ensure he doesn't choke on his vomit or anything serious like that.

bread?
food doesn't really soak it up, as u just digest the food amd thus still get the alcohol...it will slow its absortion, but that is all.

Drink a pint or litre of full fat milk.
Lines the stomach with fat that slows down the absorption of alcohol through the lining of the stomach.

Or that's the theory anyway.

As for coal pills, I thought stuff like that was just used if you were prone to creating bad farts. [rofl]

The bread soaks it up and the rate of digestion of solids is far slower than that of liquids. Drink at a sensible rate while eating something like bread and you will flat line your level of intoxication.
